What common mistakes do you see couples making?
Most commonly I find that couples don’t allot an appropriate amount of time for different aspects of their wedding day. This can cause added stress to couples that feel like they need to fit everything in. Travel time between locations (even if that means walking from one part of the venue to another), getting desired family members and wedding party together for pictures, and traffic are all common culprits.
What's the best tip you have for a couple planning a wedding?
Don’t skimp on your photographer! After the day is over, many aspects of your wedding will be left behind, however the photographs that are captured will be the memories you have and can share forever. Personality is also important when you hire a professional. Make sure you mesh well and have the same vision.
What don't couples know about your business category that they need to know?
The importance of engagement sessions — this allows the couple and the photographer to get acquainted with one another so that the couple is more comfortable on their wedding day. As a photographer I am able to give tips and posing suggestions at the engagement session that they are able to carry on to their wedding day. This leads to more relaxed and natural photos on your wedding day without a significant amount of coaching.
What questions should couples be asking that they don't know to ask?
Couples should be asking their photographer if they have backup equipment and if they are able — and comfortable — with taking photos in the different lighting environments present in their chosen venue(s).
